Writers Read ft Adam Grabowski, Amy Laprade, and Carrie Nobel Kline

The LAVA Center 324 Main Street, Greenfield, MA, United States

Writers Read is a monthly opportunity for an audience to come and listen to local writers in an intimate environment. Each second Wednesday of the month, three writers read from their work followed by time for the audience to join with the writers for a talkback. These discussions have been eye opening, touching, and inspiring. Audiences have left the venue ready to write. This series is facilitated by Lindy Whiton, a member of LAVA, and pulls from several different communities of writers throughout the local area. We are extremely lucky to draw from an abundance of talent. The year’s calendar does bring in a few outside writers who agreed to travel. Watch this event for future readers. $5 suggested donation ($1 Card to Culture) Adam Grabowski’s poems have appeared in such journals as Ninth Letter, New Ohio Review, OVERSOUND, and elsewhere. He’s Associate Poet Editor for The Maine Review, as well as the host and creative director of The Word at Workshop13, a monthly reading series & open mic in Ware, Massachusetts. Opening reception for Pauline Star

The LAVA Center 324 Main Street, Greenfield, MA, United States

Join local artist Pauline Star for an exhibit of her photography. artist’s statement: My name is Pauline. I am 35 years old and don’t consider myself a professional artist. I have fun with my art, and what started as a hobby for many years has recently become a small business. I am a woman in long-term recovery and a mother to two beautiful, amazing children. I have a love for colors and nature. I see the beauty in all things. Something I hope I am passing on to my children. As a mom in recovery, I need to find time to fill my spirit with healthy things. One of those things I found was photography. I would wake before the sun came up and drive. I sometimes searched for the darkest dirt roads and highest peaks to get the right shots. When I looked for something to shoot with my camera (just my iPhone), I went with how it felt emotionally. I would snap a picture if I saw something that resonated with me. It brings me great joy to share my pieces with you, and I hope these pictures and art give you a feeling of beauty and pleasure…
