About This Event

Writers Read is a monthly opportunity for an audience to come and listen to local writers in an intimate environment. Each second Wednesday of the month, three writers read from their work followed by time for the audience to join with the writers for a talkback. These discussions have been eye opening, touching, and inspiring. Audiences have left the venue ready to write.

This series is facilitated by Lindy Whiton, a member of LAVA, and pulls from several different communities of writers throughout the local area. We are extremely lucky to draw from an abundance of talent. The year’s calendar does bring in a few outside writers who agreed to travel. Watch this event for future readers.

Adam Grabowski’s poems have appeared in such journals as Ninth Letter, New Ohio Review, OVERSOUND, and elsewhere. He’s Associate Poet Editor for The Maine Review, as well as the host and creative director of The Word at Workshop13, a monthly reading series & open mic in Ware, Massachusetts.

Amy Laprade is the author of three books: “So Nice To Finally Meet You,” “Behind The Magic 8 Ball,” and “Silence Is Premeditated: a Collection.” In 2020, her poem, “Silence,” was selected for “The Sixty-Four Best Poets of 2019,” The Halcyon Review, by Black Mountain Press. She is currently writing a memoir.

As a folklorist and weaver of audio tapestries Carrie Nobel Kline records and entwines oral testimonials. A singer of songs of people in nature, Carrie has taught old songs as social history in the West Virginia schools. She operates Talking Across the Lines and dreams of wild, clean running rivers.
