Taught by Adrie Rose, editor of Nine Syllables Press at Smith College, and author of I Will Write a Love Poem (Porkbelly Press) and Rupture (Gold Line Press).

Unproductive Behaviors Writing Workshop
Unproductive Behaviors Writing Workshop
This writing circle for queer-identified people focuses on generating new work of any genre. We will write and revise in community through the 100s method popularized by feminist scholars like Lauren Berlant and Dr. Kim Tall Bear. The 100s asks each participant to write 100 words a day on an assigned day of the week. Participants write in one shared document where they can see and take momentum from each other’s work. During the week, writers will be given an optional prompt and are expected to write 100 words on their given day. When the group gathers we will review each other’s writing, discuss the process of generating together, and support each other as we explore ways to take our fragments further. This workshop is titled ‘unproductive behaviors’ because it is dedicated to generating work without adhering to ideals of productivity that harry writers to push out word counts or tangible products. By depending on a group of writers to generate in concert (akin to singing in the round), the 100s process invites us to dally in the process. Fee: $120 per person Dates: 5-7pm Mondays for 6 weeks. Jan 8 – Feb 12 Scholarship: two free spots open for…

How and when would you use the space? Mephiskapheles / The Prozacs / Threat Level Burgundy / Green Street Fiends
Mephiskapheles / The Prozacs / Threat Level Burgundy / Green Street FiendsMephiskapheles, the band that helped define modern day ska, then defied critics by exploring even greater possibilities with its darkly original ska fusion, forges ahead with amazing shows and new music on the way. Formed in the East Village of New York City in 1991, Mephiskapheles played its first show on Long Island. From day one, the band began attracting a diverse, dedicated fan base.Sold-out NYC gigs led to tours with the Buzzcocks and GWAR, and hits on the Hawaiian Islands Chart with three singles from the band's first album, 1994's God Bless Satan, produced by Bill Laswell. While touring relentlessly, Mephiskapheles followed-up in 1997 with Maximum Perversion, a jazz-influenced work that didn't take long to be hailed as a classic. A deal in 1999 with Koch Records resulted in the band's hard-hitting, exploratory third album, Might-Ay White-Ay. The band released the self-titled EP Mephiskapheles in 2015, featuring the single "Satan Stole My Weed," an instant classic. Never Born Again, an EP released in 2019, brings the band back full circle to its dark and melodic roots.https://theprozacs.bandcamp.com/album/we-scream-ephttps://threatlevelburgundy.bandcamp.com/album/silverhttps://greenstreetfiends.bandcamp.com/
