Our Take the Floor pitch contests invite participants to share innovative ideas from budding entrepreneurs. Come cheer on, support and vote for the finalists in this year’s contest! Nine contestants compete in three funding categories—three winners will receive up to $3000 to grow their business in Franklin County, thanks to Federal First Credit Union.

Storytelling for Queer and Trans Survival

NELCWIT presents: STORYTELLING FOR QUEER & TRANS SURVIVAL With community partnerships, we invite you to a comprehensive overdose response training by Frank Osten, a FREE narcan & test strips distro from Tapestry Harm Reduction, and a film screening at 10 Forward starting @ 6pm to highlight and honor stories of Queer and Trans survival and resistance. This event is free with an ask for voluntary donations $5-20 to NELCWIT's client assistance fund which directly assists sexual assault and domestic violence survivors with accessing groceries, gas, new sheets, hotel stays, and more. We will have vegan baked items free/suggested donation and special local artist goods, including cyanotype t-shirts featuring Goldin’s photography, for raffle. 10 Forward's bar will be open with alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages for sale. Our chosen film, "All the Beauty and Bloodshed", is an epic, emotional and interconnected story about internationally renowned artist and activist Nan Goldin told through her slideshows, intimate interviews, ground-breaking photography, and rare footage of her personal fight to hold the Sackler family accountable for the opioid crisis. Join us for a discussion with Maria Olia about her new book Massachusetts Off the Beaten Path. Discover some of Massachusetts's unique offerings with this guide: Visit a wooden-boat shop that has been in business since 1793; admire the pressed-glass galleries at the Sandwich Glass Museum, or travel back in time to the nineteenth-century Old Sturbridge Village. Maria Olia is a travel writer and essayist. She has written extensively about Boston and New England and has authored several travel books on the region. Maria has a passion for American history, Cape Cod beaches, the Boston Symphony and the Red Sox. She will always call Massachusetts home.
