Community Conversations 413
Greenfield Public Library 412 Main St, Greenfield, MA, United StatesJoin us in the Greenfield Public Library’s Local History Room on Wednesdays from 4:00 - 5:00 pm for “Community Conversations 413”, a casual weekly conversation group for English Language Learners. "Community Conversations 413" is a student-run initiative designed to support English language learners by providing informal English conversation practice in a friendly environment. This program is open to both teens and adults. The name 'Community Conversations 413' reflects our belief that sharing our differences through dialogue enriches our community. By engaging in meaningful conversations, we can become more well-rounded individuals. This initiative focuses on supporting English Language Learners in our community by engaging them in meaningful English centered conversations. Greenfield Public Library Presents: “Lost in Space: A Retro Sci-Fi Film Fest
Greenfield Public Library 412 Main St, Greenfield, MA, United StatesThe Greenfield Public Library invites the community to step back in time and explore the thrilling world of 1950s science fiction with its upcoming film festival, "Lost in Space: A Retro Sci-Fi Film Fest!" From Jan. 13 to Jan 17, GPL will showcase six classic sci-fi films that capture the essence of an era marked by technological advancements, societal anxieties, and the fear of the unknown. These films reflect the societal fears of the 1950s, from alien encounters to advanced technology, mirroring the anxieties of the McCarthy era, the Korean conflict, and the looming Cold War. The festival lineup includes: Monday, 5:30 pm: A spaceship lands in Washington, D.C., capturing the world's attention. But the alien emissary (Michael Rennie) it brings refuses to reveal his mission to any single government, leaving the military, the politicians, and millions of ordinary people to wait in fear. Tuesday, 2:00 pm: Residents of a small town are excited when they see a flaming meteor land in the hills. Their excitement is dampened when they discover it has passengers from Mars aboard.…
Wednesday Night Writers Workshop
Greenfield Public Library 412 Main St, Greenfield, MA, United StatesWriters are invited to attend a weekly informal gathering on Wednesday nights at 6 pm, in the GPL Local History Room, to workshop their prose and poetry in-progress. Everyone is welcome to bring three single-spaced or six double-spaced pages max and enough copies so that everyone can read along and provide feedback. Writers will take turns reading their work aloud, with a volunteer moderator leading the discussion. Writers aren’t allowed to talk while being critiqued. This program, made possible through the generosity of the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library, is free and intended for ages 12 and up.
Drop in Mending Clinic

A button that has come off? Bring your item to the GPL Makerspace between 2:00 - 4:00 pm, and let us brainstorm a solution. A staff member will help you decide what to do and maybe even start you on your way to mending. We have sewing machines, simple hand sewing tools, knitting yarns and tools. LifePath Information Session
Greenfield Public Library 412 Main St, Greenfield, MA, United StatesRepresentatives from LifePath will be at the Greenfield Public Library to answer questions and offer information about available services and volunteer resources available to you and your loved ones. LifePath is a nonprofit organization serving older people, people with disabilities, and caregivers in Western and Central Mass, helping people stay independent in their homes and communities. LifePath coordinates the right services for each person using a variety of providers and programs, working with people of all incomes. And there will be pizza! Bookends is a collaboration between Greenfield Public Library and Greenfield Community College. We meet four times a year to read and discuss books that appeal to a wide range of ages from teen to senior citizen. Our goal is to bring readers of different generations and backgrounds together and spark conversations that unite our community.
