On every last Friday of the month downtown Greenfield comes alive in a celebration of the local arts scene! The Greenfield Arts Walk is a town-wide event featuring a cohort of local arts organizations including Madhouse Multi-Arts, Hawks & Reed, and Greenfield Gallery to name a few. The Arts Walk's mission is to grow the local creative community and economy by attracting interest from beyond the region while strengthening the connections within. During the Arts Walk, many featured destinations showcase work submitted by local artists, providing them with an excellent opportunity to gain a stronger local following and sell their work.

Halloween at LAVA: History of Halloween + The Excorcist

Join Lillian Ruiz—professor at GCC and enthusiast of Halloween and all things scary—and learn a bit about the history of Halloween. We’ll also screen an extended version of the ultimate scary movie The Exorcist along with a short documentary about the film and its cultural impact. Ruiz teaches classes in media and popular culture, Gothic literature, Shakespeare and women in literature, among others. Please note the movie is rated R and is intended for mature audiences only.

With a burst of patriotic song and covered in American flags, Miss Katherine Chelsea Hartford from the gorgeous state of Georgia vows to become the next Miss America and make her momma proud. Silverthorne Theater’s production of Lauren Gunderson’s The Taming promises audiences a hilarious romp through the contemporary, past and future corridors of power. Under the direction of Mary Corinne Miller, The Taming opens on Friday October 21, in The Perch at Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center, 289 Main Street, Greenfield MA. Evening performances at 7:30 pm are scheduled for October 21, 22, 27, 28 & 29, with 3:00 pm matinees on October 22, 23, and 29. Tickets are on sale at EventBrite.com. The venue is handicapped accessible. In keeping with now standard live theater practice, audience members are asked to wear masks to prevent the spread of the Covid 19 virus. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Shrew, beauty pageant contestant Katherine (Tahmie Der) has aspirations beyond the sash and crown – but she needs the help of an ultra-conservative Senator’s aide Pat (Stephanie Carlson*) and ultra-liberal eco-terrorist Bianca (Tracy Einstein). It takes a trip back to 1770 for Kate to find an unexpected compromise that is timely and fresh.…

Try their pupusas, tacos, burritos and fresh horchata, directly from the streets of San Salvador to downtown Greenfield. Lisa Laird Dunn is the COO and Global Ambassador of Laird’s & Company, America’s first licensed distiller circa 1780, when License #1 was granted by the (newly formed )United States of America. Today No 1 is still proudly displayed on the door to the Barrel Aging Room at the main office in Scobeyville, New Jersey. Lisa is an 9th generation Laird and the first women to lead the company.
