Care about making sure everyone has enough to eat in our community? The Greenfield Public Library, in collaboration with the Franklin County Hunger Task Force, will host the “Hunger Action Month Traveling Show”, beginning Saturday, September 24 through Friday, September 30, as part of National Hunger Action Month. There will be six posters on the Library grounds highlighting information about hunger in our community. Each poster will explore a different issue related to hunger, and feature easy ways to help end hunger in our community, including QR code links that can be read by smartphones. The Franklin County Hunger Task Force, as part of National Hunger Action Month, organized the Hunger Action Traveling Show. The FC Hunger Task Force is a program of Community Action Pioneer Valley. The Task Force includes community members and staff, volunteers, and guests from Franklin County’s food access programs. This program is free and open to the public.

On every last Friday of the month downtown Greenfield comes alive in a celebration of the local arts scene! The Greenfield Arts Walk is a town-wide event featuring a cohort of local arts organizations including Madhouse Multi-Arts, Hawks & Reed, and Greenfield Gallery to name a few. The Arts Walk's mission is to grow the local creative community and economy by attracting interest from beyond the region while strengthening the connections within. During the Arts Walk, many featured destinations showcase work submitted by local artists, providing them with an excellent opportunity to gain a stronger local following and sell their work.

Palaver Strings Presents: A Brilliant Escape

Palaver launches its ninth season with an escape into the brilliant world of early music, joined by harpsichordist John McKean. This program includes classic concertos such as Corelli’s Christmas Concerto and Geminiani’s La Folia, full of florid violin melodies and driving bass lines sure to sweep you away. Two lesser-known works by Casulana and Lusitano, originally written for voices, are full of harmonic twists and turns. We round out the program with Durante’s La Pazzia and Telemann’s aptly-named Suite La Bizarre. Repertoire: “Morir non può il mio cuore” – Maddalena Casulana, arr. Fall Storytime with Ellen Lavoie

Fall is in the air! Join Children's Librarian, Ellen Lavoie, for a Fall-themed family storytime on Saturday, October 1st at 10am. This 30-minute storytime will be held under the tent in front of the library and will feature fall books and songs with activities and snacks to follow. Supervised children of all ages are welcome to attend. Rain date: Saturday, October 8th at 10am.
