Adapted from the 1899 stage play Sherlock Holmes is based on the stories A Scandal in Bohemia, the Final Problem and A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle. Once though lost, the film was rediscovered in 2014. When a couple of scammers hold young Alice Faulkner against her will to discover the whereabouts of letters whose dissemination could cause a scandal affecting the royal family, Sherlock Holmes decides to take over the case. (Considered lost, a copy was found in 2014, in the vaults of the Cinémathèque Française.) Greenfield’s Forgotten Silent Movie,1924 at the Greenfield Garden Cinema
Greenfield Garden Cinema 361 Main St., Greenfield, MA, United States"Love's Young Dream," a one-act comedy/drama produced at the Victoria Theatre in June of 1924 will be shown at Greenfield Garden Cinema. It is preceded by another (shorter) silent film – a Pathé newsreel that captured Greenfield's first Winter Festival in 1923! It is believed to be the only remaining footage of its kind and is accompanied with a silent screen virtual orchestra accompaniment in modern 5.1 theater surround stereo. The selections are from the actual orchestra score written for the screen over 100 years ago!
