Greenfield’s Forgotten Silent Movie,1924 at the Greenfield Garden Cinema – Saturday 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

“Love’s Young Dream,” a one-act comedy/drama produced at the Victoria Theatre in June of 1924 will be shown at Greenfield Garden Cinema. It is preceded by another (shorter) silent film – a Pathé newsreel that captured Greenfield’s first Winter Festival in 1923! It is believed to be the only remaining footage of its kind and is accompanied with a silent screen virtual orchestra accompaniment in modern 5.1 theater surround stereo. The selections are from the actual orchestra score written for the screen over 100 years ago!

Vintage Car Show – Saturday 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM at Mohawk Mall (91 Main St.)

Stroll the vintage and classic car show, vote for your favorites with the People’s Choice award, and take photos with mint classic cars.
Register your car or truck for the car show here.

Intergenerational Dance – Saturday 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM at Franklin County’s YMCA

Learn vintage moves from local dance studios and teachers and show off some new moves in return! Each half hour premieres a new (old) decade, and then we DANCE the night away!

“Far Out: Life on and After the Commune” at the Greenfield Garden Cinema – Sunday 6:30 PM

This documentary film traces fifty years in the lives of a group of New England writers, activists and artists, as they became pioneers in the back-to-the-land and organic farming movement. In 1973, when a giant nuclear power plant was planned nearby, they became active opponents. In a dramatic act of civil disobedience, Sam Lovejoy, a commune member, toppled a 500-foot weather tower on the site. His trial drew national attention and points to a history of activism in our region. Film is followed by a Q&A with director Charles Light and members of the commune!
