English Clog Dance Class

Guiding Star Grange 401 Chapman Street, Greenfield, MA, United States

Come and learn this super satisfying and intricate form of traditional dance! All welcome! We will be starting with the super simple elements: can you take a step? Can you tap your toe? Can you tap your heel? and building them up into the basic movements and structures that comprise Lancashire Clog Dance. You will be surprised how quickly it comes together! Clogs available to borrow or you can dance in any flat shoes with a hard sole (anything that makes a sound when you tap your foot). You are welcome to dance standing or seated. The teacher is Laurel Swift, an experienced clog dancer from England who learnt and performed with Camden Clog, tradition bearers of Pat Tracey's style of East Lancashire clog dance. $160 for 8 weeks - sliding scale options $120-$200. Please get in touch if this is too expensive or if you'd like to try a class before committing. Mondays in January and February 6:45-7:45pm. There is also an intermediate / advanced class 8-9pm for those who have previous danced clog or other forms of percussive dance.
