The 10th Anniversary Spring concert of the Franklin County Community Chorus, taking place at 3:00 PM on May 5th at Greenfield High School, will showcase the talents of a very special guest — 1995 GHS graduate and Broadway-show veteran Kevin Duda. Paul Calcari, who founded and directs the FCCC after teaching music at GHS for 27 years, is thrilled to welcome his talented former student back to Greenfield. An original Broadway cast member of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and The Book of Mormon, Duda has gone on to form a production company, has served as Executive & Creative Producer for the Hallmark Channel and has developed fresh and forward-thinking entertainment for Regent and Norwegian Cruise Lines. Duda will perform a set of solo selections in the concert, and will join the FCCC on Billy Joel’s The Longest Time and You Will Be Found from the Broadway show Dear Evan Hansen. The 60-member Franklin County Community Chorus has been a mainstay of the local choral scene since 2013. Book to Movie Club: Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret

   Join the Greenfield Public Library, in collaboration with Greenfield High School, for the “Book to Movie Club”  on Friday, March 1, at 5:30 pm. We will be showing the movie “Are You There, God? It’s Me Margaret”, based on the novel by Judy Blume at the Greenfield High School Cafeteria and Auditorium (go in through the rear entrance, the same as you would for voting). Which is better, the book or the movie? You be the judge. Our current read is Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.” by Judy Blume. Check out the book at Greenfield Public Library and then join us to watch the movie at the high school with student members of Library Club, high school librarian Jessica Pollock and Greenfield Public Library Teen Librarian Francesca Passiglia. This program begins at 5:30 with pizza and a meet and greet. The movie will begin promptly at 6 pm followed by a brief discussion. The program is free and the public is encouraged to attend. Home for the Holidays: Holiday Pops for the Whole Family

MOZART’S MASS IN C MINOR

Closing the Pioneer Valley Symphony’s 84th season, “For the Love of Music,” the PVS presents the overture to Coleridge-Taylor’s Song of Hiawatha, a work that was immensely popular at the turn of the 20th century yet unjustly has been rarely performed for nearly 100 years, and Mozart’s Great Mass, in the 240th anniversary year of its premiere, featuring complex harmonies sung by the PVS Chorus and a quartet of world-class vocal soloists. Pre-concert talk at 6​PM with resident musicologist David Schneider. Face masks are required in the auditorium.

This concert features the Brattleboro Concert Choir, directed by Dr. Jonathan Harvey; the Mount Holyoke Glee Club, directed by Rachel Feldman; and the Pioneer Valley Symphony Chorus and Chamber Chorus, directed by Dr. Allegra Martin.
