This concert features the Brattleboro Concert Choir, directed by Dr. Jonathan Harvey; the Mount Holyoke Glee Club, directed by Rachel Feldman; and the Pioneer Valley Symphony Chorus and Chamber Chorus, directed by Dr. Allegra Martin. MOZART’S MASS IN C MINOR
21 Barr Ave. Greenfield MA 01301 21 BARR AVENUE, Greenfield, MA, United StatesClosing the Pioneer Valley Symphony’s 84th season, “For the Love of Music,” the PVS presents the overture to Coleridge-Taylor’s Song of Hiawatha, a work that was immensely popular at the turn of the 20th century yet unjustly has been rarely performed for nearly 100 years, and Mozart’s Great Mass, in the 240th anniversary year of its premiere, featuring complex harmonies sung by the PVS Chorus and a quartet of world-class vocal soloists. Pre-concert talk at 6PM with resident musicologist David Schneider. Face masks are required in the auditorium.
Music Bridge: Early Childhood Music Class
Artspace Community Arts Center 15 Mill St, Greenfield, MA, United States8 Saturdays 10:30-11:20am Instructor: Liz Tonne Class Dates: 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4 Ages: 5-7 This fun and active group class builds a strong foundation of basic musical skills through games and familiar songs. We will explore singing, percussion, and moving to rhythm, and build skills which can be applied to learning any instrument the student may try in the future. We strive to ensure accessibility of our programs to all members of the community. Classes are offered on a sliding scale $80-160. Here at Home: Choral Concert
The Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew 8 Church Street, GreenfieldThe PVS Chorus and Chamber Choir present a program inspired by the theme of "home," including music from local composers and a new commission to the words of Emily Dickinson. Dr. Allegra Martin, Chorus Director, Larry Picard, Accompanist. Concert length is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes without intermission. Plus, the premiere of a new commissioned work from local composer, pianist, and writer Clifton "Jerry" Noble which plays on the humorous Hanukkah in Santa Monica by Tom Lehrer.
