Wednesday Night Writers Workshop
Greenfield Public Library 412 Main St, Greenfield, MA, United StatesWriters are invited to attend a weekly informal gathering on Wednesday nights at 6 pm, in the GPL Local History Room, to workshop their prose and poetry in-progress. Everyone is welcome to bring three single-spaced or six double-spaced pages max and enough copies so that everyone can read along and provide feedback. Writers will take turns reading their work aloud, with a volunteer moderator leading the discussion. Writers aren’t allowed to talk while being critiqued. This program, made possible through the generosity of the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library, is free and intended for ages 12 and up.
Friends of the Greenfield Public Library Book Sale

Proceeds from the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library's Book sale supports adult, teen and children's library programs, all of which are free and available to everyone in our community. The Friends' also provide passes to area museums, support for the Homebound Delivery Program, and sponsor the annual Poet's Seat Poetry Contest.
Stuffie Sleepover (drop off)

Kids can bring one stuffie each to drop off at the library on Monday, May 12 for a special *stuffies only* sleepover. What will they get up to in the library on their own?! GPL Lego Club (drop-in)

Legos will be available to play with in the Children's Room every Monday from 3:30 - 5pm. Complete one of the given challenges or make your own creation to be put on display until the next week. Chess Club
Greenfield Public Library 412 Main St, Greenfield, MA, United StatesMeet up with other chess players on the 2nd floor of the Greenfield Public Library. All ages and skill levels are welcome, for both casual and serious games. Chess instruction is available for beginners, and anyone wanting to learn the game. Chess sets will be provided, but feel free to bring your own! This program is free and open to all, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
Silent Book Club

Drop by the Makerspace between 6:00 and 6:45 to chat with other readers…then find a quiet place in the library and read until closing time! At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. All books are acceptable — ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books... it's BYOBook. Everyone is welcome. Local Author Talk with Mattea Kramer
Greenfield Public Library 412 Main St, Greenfield, MA, United StatesThe Greenfield Public Library welcomes local author Mattea Kramer for a talk on her novel The Untended in the Community Meeting Room on Tuesday, May 13 at 6:30 pm in the Community Meeting Room. Mattea Kramer has been an independent writer since 2014, during which time she has been a regular contributor to the syndicated political site TomDispatch, which publishes a range of thinkers and experts on the American empire. Mattea was previously a recipient of a Carnegie-Knight News21 journalism fellowship from Harvard’s Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy, and since 2017, Mattea has been writing about drugs in America. Her first novel, The Untended, which tells an intimate story of addiction in small-town New England, was published in 2025. Mattea was born and raised in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
