Former GCC professor and local attorney Buz Eisenberg reviews the impact of recent Supreme Court rulings on American civil liberties. Over the course of his career, Buz has handled many complex civil and criminal cases, and since 2004 has represented eight men detained in Guantanamo Bay by the U.S. military. He has received numerous regional, state and national recognitions for his defense of human rights and civil liberties. Free and open to the public.

Life Behind the Lens: Selected Stories from 40 Years in the Movie Industry with Mike Haley

Celebrate the opening of GCC's fall theater production of "Angels in America" with Hollywood veteran Mike Haley, assistant director of HBO’s television adaptation of the Tony and Pulitzer award-winning play. Mike Haley has worked on over 60 feature films and 18 television movies and has worked with some of American’s greatest directors including Sidney Lumet, Sidney Pollock, Barry Levinson, Penny Marshall, Harold Ramis, and Mike Nichols. His relationship with Nichols spans 30 years and 13 films including "Biloxi Blues," "Working Girl," "Primary Colors," "Angels In America," and "Charlie Wilson’s War." He’s also worked with actors and actresses including Katherine Hepburn, Harrison Ford, Meryl Streep, Madonna, and Morris the Cat. He’s had a prolific career as an actor in roles opposite Sophia Loren, Christian Slater and John Travolta and played the umpire who throws Tom Hanks out of the game after the classic “There’s no crying in baseball!” scene in "A League Of Their Own." Mike has received two Humanitas Prizes, The Christopher Award, a Directors Guild of American citation and an Emmy for his work on "Angels in America." Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning drama Angels in America is one of the great epic American plays of this past century. We meet Louis and Prior and Harper and Joe, two couples whose relationships are on the rocks; the former because of Prior’s AIDS diagnosis and Louis’ inability to cope with illness, and the latter because of Joe’s closeted homosexuality and Harper’s incessant fears and hallucinations. Angels in America will continue this coming Spring with Part Two!
