Join us for a screening of Ken Burns’ College Behind Bars, a documentary that follows incarcerated students in the Bard Prison Initiative as they pursue rigorous college degrees while serving time. Through their personal journeys, the film highlights the transformative power of education, the challenges of prison life and the broader implications of criminal justice reform. Followed by a community panel discussion with refreshments. Free and open to the public! Join LAVA for film screenings every 2nd Thursday! We’ll share films made by local filmmakers, films with a social or environmental focus brought to you by local organizations, films we just think you should see! On Thursday, April 10, Greening Greenfield will show, at LAVA, the documentary, Deep Sea Rising. A documentary, by Matthieu Rytz and narrated by Jason Momoa, asks if “in our collective effort to end our dependency on fossil fuels, how much are we willing to risk to achieve a so-called green energy revolution?… Deep Rising will bring to the surface the beauty and mysteries of the deep sea – and the hard choices that must be made between running our low energy gadgets and saving the oceans, our planet’s final frontier.” Discussion will follow. Join us for this free event. Doors will open at 6PM, films will start at 6:30. Seating is limited; come early.
