About This Event

Join the Greenfield Public Library, in collaboration with Greenfield High School, for the “Book to Movie Club”  on Friday, February 9th, at 5:30 pm. We will be showing the movie “It’s Kind of a Funny Story”, based on the novel by Ned Vizzini.at the Greenfield High School Cafeteria and Auditorium (go in through rear entrance, the same as you would for voting)

Which is better, the book or the movie? You be the judge. Our current read is It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. Check out the book at Greenfield Public Library and then join us to watch the movie at the high school with student members of Library Club, high school librarian Jessica Pollock and Greenfield Public Library Teen Librarian Francesca Passiglia:

Like many ambitious New York City teenagers, Craig Gilner sees entry into Manhattan’s Executive Pre-Professional High School as the ticket to his future. Determined to succeed at life—which means getting into the right high school to get into the right college to get the right job—Craig studies night and day to ace the entrance exam, and does. That’s when things start to get crazy. Author, Ned Vizzini, who himself spent time in a psychiatric hospital, has created a remarkably moving tale about the sometimes unexpected road to happiness. For a novel about depression, it’s definitely a funny story.

This program begins at 5:30 with pizza and a meet and greet. The movie will begin promptly at 6 pm followed by a brief discussion. The program is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
