Whether you’re working in poetry, prose, comics, or collage, you’ll learn how to take your project from draft to finished object using Risograph printing and simple bookbinding techniques. This workshop will occur Monday evenings in March/April in two hour, limited group sessions at Looky Here. Each week we will explore a different theme through literary and artistic references, group discussion, and generative writing prompts provided live and in session. The ultimate goal of this workshop is to jumpstart your writing practice for the summer in a supportive and productive environment guided by a tapestry of subject matter.   • Watercolor for Beginners: 6 Weeks with Giselle Harrington

    Learn traditional methods of handling transparent watercolor in representational painting. Students will learn how to control watercolor through washes and glazes, creating soft edges, and using wet-in-wet techniques. They will also learn how to quickly identify a strong value design in a scene: key to success in watercolor. Materials: Participants may choose to bring their own supplies or rent supplies for use during the class; Supply rental is: $5 per day or $25 for the full session. They can pay at the first class.   • Deep Dive: Virginie Despentes! with Sierra Dickey

    Writing class war with a queer-punk-hard-femme lens. Immerse into the works and aesthetics of french queer punk lesbian icon Virginie Despentes. Virginie Despentes is the author of multiple novels, a film, and a small book of feminist theory. All of her work explores race, class, and gender violence in France through criminal underworlds and cultural margins. In this workshop we will read excerpts of her works and generate new work inspired by her style, scope, and political thrust. Expect to spend half of class discussing, and half of class doing collaborative writing prompts. Mondays May 12 – June 2 $140 total for 4 weeks 6:30pm – 8:00pm masks required 1 free spot for a low-income student
