Mystery Readers Book Club
Mystery Readers Book Club
Join us at the GPL for a different type of Book Club, hosted by Karen Larsen, on the first Wednesday of each month! Because we each have our own tastes in mysteries we don’t ask everyone to read the same book each month. Instead we get together in a casual friendly environment and talk about what we’ve each been reading individually. Whether your thing is country cozies, dark Scandinavian noir, serial killer thrillers, historical whodunnits, spy drama, fantasy conundrums, or another branch of the genre, we’ll enjoy your insights into what you are reading. This is a guilt free book club! Didn’t have time to read anything this month?- no problem. It’s fine to just come and enjoy the discussion, and you may have insights into the books others have read. Didn’t like the book or books you read? It’s interesting to hear about that too. Looking for new authors? This book club is a great way to find them. When there’s time we also talk about mysteries on Film and TV. Karen will bring a snack and you bring your unique interests and insights. We look forward to meeting you for a fun discussion! For more information, contact [email protected]. This…

A Saturday Dose of Fun (improv games for grownups with Henry Balzarini)
Warning: This workshop may cause multiple moments of mirth, foster greater comfort in new situations, inspire creativity, lift your mood, release stress, make you more spontaneous, ease you into connecting enjoyably with other people and even make you laugh out loud. Using improv games, we will become a fast thinking, in the moment, loose goose brigade. You’ve been warned. Here’s a little more about the content of the workshop from Henry: Although I’ll be using improv based exercises, they’ll be mostly warmup and group game activities. Not really improv scene or narrative building work. We will end with one or two short form improv performance type games, however. Focus will be on loosening up and having fun. If you are looking for serious improv study this won’t be it, but might be a good way to ease into it. That all said, the main objective is fun on a Saturday afternoon. Every 2nd and 4th Saturday! $5–10 suggested donation per session. No improv experience necessary. Intended for adults. Limit of 15 please, so sign up now: email [email protected]. about your host: I’m Henry Balzarini and a native of Boston. In the 1980’s I lived in New York City where I…

These films reflect the societal fears of the 1950s, from alien encounters to advanced technology, mirroring the anxieties of the McCarthy era, the Korean conflict, and the looming Cold War. Due to licensing restrictions we can’t share the names of the movies, but visit our calendar for more information and times at: https://greenfieldpl.libcal.com/calendar/. The festival lineup includes: Monday, 5:30 pm: A spaceship lands in Washington, D.C., capturing the world's attention. But the alien emissary (Michael Rennie) it brings refuses to reveal his mission to any single government, leaving the military, the politicians, and millions of ordinary people to wait in fear. Tuesday, 2:00 pm: Residents of a small town are excited when they see a flaming meteor land in the hills. Their excitement is dampened when they discover it has passengers from Mars aboard.…
