We're ready for our big media sale! This one is shaping up to be a big storm of media. I just picked up a store closeout from the Berkshires, and with it received a voluminous collection of vinyl. We should have at least 50 boxes of vinyl records, including 3-4 full boxes of 45s. We will use our perennial and favorite pattern of selling all our CDs, DVDs, and Records for $2 each on Friday, and then reducing them to just $1 each starting on Saturday morning. Book bins will be 50 cents throughout the sale. It looks like we'll have a lot of bins, at least 10, but maybe as many as 20 gaylord bins to shop through. We'll sell our 45s at 50 cents through the sale, too, just like they were books, but they're 45s--what a deal! $1 SALE: Saturday, October 5th - Sunday, October 6th, 10am - 6pm $2 PRESALE DAY: Friday, October 4th, 10am - 6pm $1 DVDs and DVD sets $1 CDs and CD sets $1 Audiobooks $1 Vinyl Records 50 Cent 45s Thousands of CDs and DVDs, all fresh inventory Large collection of vinyl records from a store closeout--50 or so boxes ~10-20…

During this fun and adventurous workshop we will explore and experiment with painting outdoors. We will begin with a few short demos in the studio and then head outdoors to set up. Tina will be available to help with set ups and getting started. Painting watercolors outdoors can be challenging, but we will approach it freely using our attention and materials to capture what interests us. We begin with simple pencil lines to define our compositions to help stay focused when looking out at unending space. We can then do some quick studies to get a feel for things; what colors to mix, how the paint dries quicker, the light continuously changes, etc. After that we will select a final composition and begin to work on a full painting. Watercolor painting materials will be provided (paper, paints, mixing tray, brushes), or you are free to bring your own. You will need to bring the additional supplies for your outdoor set up. Specific location directions, and outdoor supply list, will be provided after registration.

Vintage Days Special: Far Out: Life On & After the Commune with Q&A after the film with director Charles Light and others. In 1968, a group of radical journalists leave the city and politics to live communally as organic farmers. The film examines their lives and return to the political world and how the commune became a community. The film traces fifty years in the lives of a group of New England writers, activists and artists. In 1968, in the middle of a left wing faction fight, a group of radical journalists left New York City for the country where they became pioneers in the back-to-the-land and organic farming movement. In 1973, when a giant nuclear power plant was planned nearby, they became active opponents. In a dramatic act of civil disobedience, Sam Lovejoy, a commune member, toppled a 500 foot weather tower on the site. He turned himself in and after a trial that drew national attention was acquitted. The group became leaders in the burgeoning anti-nuclear movement. The film tracks the dramatic battles over atomic power in Seabrook, NH and elsewhere. In 1979, they teamed up with Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Graham Nash and other committed rock stars…

In this gripping drama directed by Sidney Lumet twelve men struggle to reach a verdict in a murder trial in a New York City jury room on “the hottest day of the year.” Henry Fonda plays a principled holdout who urges his fellow jurors to reconsider the evidence. A volatile Lee J. Cobb portrays the juror most resistant to the constitutional demand of a presumption of innocence. Although a commercial failure in 1957, the film, with its emphasis on the importance of reasoned argument in a democratic legal system, has accumulated recognition over the decades to the point that it was ranked 23rd best American film of all time in a 2002 poll.

Learn more about using tools and materials, mixing a custom color palette, and applying paint to paper. We will delve deeper into the composition of your paintings by examining space, shapes, edges, values, and texture. We continue exploring the beauty of the landscape. There will be short demos, some practice painting, and you will work on a painting of your own. Watercolor materials will be provided, or you are free to bring your own materials. Do bring photos of landscapes you enjoy (no sunset photos please) and you can paint from the image of your choice. Block printing with rubber (sometimes referred to as "linocut" which references the linoleum blocks some people carve instead) is a great way to customize your clothes, curtains, tote bags, and many other textiles! In this class, you will start by designing on paper, learn how to transfer the essence of the design to the block, and then be given instruction on how to carve the block! Once the block is carved, we will use it to print on various textiles using specialty ink. You will be able to take the block home to print on even more items! There will be some items to choose from to print on, but you're welcome to bring your own! And of course, you get to take home whatever you print on. If you want to bring your own material, keep material in mind. Cotton and cotton blends are perfect for printing on, as well as other natural fabrics like linen and hemp (as long as it is a tight weave) and canvas. Avoid novelty fabrics (fur, highly textured, etc.), polyester, as well as spandex and lycra. You can also bring in a design to carve, you just need to print in black toner…

On every last Friday of the month downtown Greenfield comes alive in a celebration of the local arts scene! The Greenfield Arts Walk is a town-wide event featuring a cohort of local arts organizations including Madhouse Multi-Arts, Hawks & Reed, and Greenfield Gallery to name a few. The Arts Walk's mission is to grow the local creative community and economy by attracting interest from beyond the region while strengthening the connections within. Presenting the monthly Handicraft Social which we’ll be hosting on the final Friday of the month at 5pm! Join us at 231 Main Street during the Arts Walk for a relaxed night of adult (18+ please) crafting and chatting. Bring something fun to do with your hands, be it knitting, sewing, drawing, sculpting, or any other project you can take along with you! Bring whatever tools/supplies you need, as this event is downstairs in the gallery and we won’t have access to the tools in the makerspace. This event is BYOB–Bring Your Own Beverage. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic are welcome. We hope to see you there!
