After a brief introduction by JB, you will get to see one of the all-time classic gangster films with the defining actor of the class James Cagney alongside silent film star Jean Harlow in The Public Enemy. In 1988 the movie was selected for preservation in the US National Film Registry by the Library of Congress and has an amazing 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Public Enemy received a nomination for best story at the 4th Academy Awards. Two young Chicago hoodlums, Tom Powers and Matt Doyle, rise up from their poverty-stricken slum life to become petty thieves, bootleggers and cold-blooded killers. But with street notoriety and newfound wealth, the duo feels the heat from the cops and rival gangsters both. Despite his ruthless criminal reputation, Tom tries to remain connected to his family, however, gang warfare and the need for revenge eventually pull him away. Take a break from the hectic, often frenzied, election news coverage to study, reflect, and increase your understanding of our rights as citizens of the United States. Copies of the documents and writing materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own! This program is free and open to everyone in our community.

Constitution Day is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is observed on September 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia. Registration is not required, but supplies are limited: one copy per person will be available on a first come, first served basis. The Pocket Constitutions, made possible through the generosity of the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library, are free and available to the public.

Greenfield Recycling Program Information Session

Greenfield is rolling out a new recycling program in 2025! Switching to automated single stream recycling collection, all recyclables, including cardboard, will go into one large cart—no more sorting! Noëlle Janka, PCC is a politicized, holistic career coach for social change leaders. She has lived with health challenges for more than twenty years, and has supported clients with their healing and career development for more than a decade via transformational workshops, writing salons, coaching groups, yoga instruction, and individual coaching. A former grassroots organizer, Noëlle has worked on political, environmental, and bike advocacy campaigns across the country and continues to volunteer on issues that are close to her heart. She is an alumna of Vanderbilt University and Green Corps, a trained yoga teacher, Gateless Writing teacher, and Master Urban Gardener who loves tending her plot at Just Roots in Greenfield.
