While you're out enjoying the Greenfield Winter Carnival, visit us for a special tasting experience that delves into the deeper, darker side of brewing. Embrace the chill of early February with our curated tasting flight and banish the winter blues. We'll also have pretzels and beer cheese dip made with Tormentor. Tormentor Doppelbock (7.75% ABV): A dangerously drinkable, rich German-style dark lager. Expect notes of dark fruit, toasted malt, and a smooth, warming finish. Cork by Candlelight Irish Stout (4% ABV): Our dry, sessionable Irish Stout featuring a creamy head, velvety mouthfeel, and classic roast malt notes. Motorbreath Coffee Porter (5.5% ABV): A bold porter infused with locally roasted coffee. Think chocolate, caramel, and a kick of fresh-brewed flavor. Gallows Bird Schwarzbier (5.1% ABV): Schwarzbier is the “black lager" of Germany—light and crisp with subtle, elegant notes of chocolate and a clean lager finish. |

The LAVA Center is delighted to announce it will share a piece of Winter Carnival History as part of the Greenfield Winter Carnival. In March of 2024, local history fans and researchers Chris Clawson and Carol Aleman discovered a Pathé News newsreel from just over a hundred years ago. As Clawson recounts it, the forgotten reel from 1923, along with another from a year later, sat on a Historical Society of Greenfield shelf when they suddenly caught his attention. He and Aleman set about researching and restoring the films. On Saturday, Feb. 7, 2–4 pm, this restored 9-minute film, “Greenfield’s Winter Carnival, 1923,” will loop continuously for a drop-in intro to the history of our local festivities. Carnival-goers can take a break from enjoying the ice sculptures along Main Street and step inside to warm up and enjoy Clawson’s film, a cup of hot cider, and LAVA’s first art exhibit of 2026. For more information, contact [email protected].

Greenfield Community Television brings back its annual film festival for a sixth year, challenging filmmakers to see just how fast creativity can move. Lights! Camera! Greenfield!, the two-week film sprint and festival, kicks off on February 9. Teams can sign up now using the Google form at https://forms.gle/V87nTWnwvqEGHmmf7. Once registered, teams will receive their prompts and jump straight into filmmaking. Each team receives two unique prompts along with one universal prompt that must appear in their film. With those elements in hand, teams have just two weeks to create a short film running four minutes or less. The sprint culminates in a public premiere on March 5 at the Greenfield Garden Cinema, located at 361 Main Street.
