Carnival Studies: Solo Exhibition by Lisa Beskin
Artspace Community Arts Center 15 Mill St, Greenfield, MA, United StatesNext up in the Artspace Gallery: Carnival Studies Opening on Friday, September 11, 5-8pm Wander around a carnival and you’ll see it all: beauty, heartbreak, gaudiness, mystery, ugliness the pleasures are simultaneously cheap and dear. An eerie nostalgia is baked into both a Polaroid photograph and into the carnival experience. “Carnival Studies is a series of photographs I took over several carnival seasons in Massachusetts. With two exceptions the photos were all made with a Polaroid camera on instant film. This older photographic technology suits the carnival experience, which is always kind of timeless and haunting.” - Lisa Beskin

Improv! Any form of art or entertainment that can be staged, in any stage of development. WITH A NEW HOST starting in June: Clara Witty Clara Witty lives in Orange, MA and works as the Programming Director of The LAVA Center. She’s worked on many different projects at The LAVA Center including indiVISIBLE, On the Boards playwright festival, and produced the documentary film “Rising River’s Edge”. She values her community and the arts, and works to bridge them together through her work at The LAVA Center and personal interests. Signup starts at 6:30, show starts at 7. 5 minute limit for each act. You can use our sound system if you’d like audio to backup your act- connect using Bluetooth, plugin using 1/8″ mic jack input, or bring adapter if needed. $1-5 suggested donation

“HEADSPACE 3” Art Gallery Reception
Greenfield Community Television 393 Main Street, GreenfieldHeadspace is an immersive installation featuring over 150 large-scale, mixed-media, dimensional illustrations and sculptures. These "heads" are made of recycled cardboard, paint, hot glue, crafting scraps, and trash! This space is meant to be a reminder of just how good it feels to make art for yourself & what it really means to share that feeling with others. Come meet the artist at the Gallery Reception, and get the full immersive experience of the show including special trash alters!

Wednesday After School Clay: ages 12-16yo
Artspace Community Arts Center 15 Mill St, Greenfield, MA, United StatesWednesday After School Clay: October 28th, November 4th, 11th, 18th, December 2nd, 9th No class November 24 In this program, kids age 12 - 16* will explore the properties of ceramic clay and learn both basic handbuildng and wheelthrowing. They will learn how to work with clay at its various stages from wet to dry and create finished pieces. *If your child is a year or two outside of our age range and you think they would fit well with this workshop, please email our office!

Blocks 2 & 3 have TA opportunities for emerging art educators to learn classroom management skills and assist in our youth vacation programs (stipended).
