Events for May 31, 2025
Langstroth’s Literary Bee
In May, stop by the GPL Local History Room as we celebrate Reverend Lorenzo Langstroth, Greenfield resident and the “Father of Modern Beekeeping”. Langstroth developed the moveable frame beehive, which made it possible to harvest honey and check on the bee's health without destroying the bee hive. When Langstroth wrote his classic book Hive and the Honey-Bee in 1853, he included inspiration from some of the English language’s great poets and playwrights. Langstroth generally quoted a select few lines of poetry or prose, but we have expanded those to show the full context of the material. Think of this as a literary garden, with a Langstroth bee flying among its lines and branches. The self-guided program will be on view in the Local History Room for the month of May.

Heavy Metal Bardlesque : A Heavy Metal D&D Burlesque Show
Step into a twisted realm where Dungeons & Dragons meets burlesque in the most chaotic, metal-fueled way possible. This is Dungeons & Dragons reimagined through fishnets, sweat, and distortion pedals. A grimy spectacle where burlesque collides with high fantasy, and adventurers, monsters, and misfits take the stage in a raunchy, raucous campaign full of carnival grit, sideshow stunts, and debauched dungeon drama. Don’t expect fireballs or dragons on wires—expect hard-hitting circus acts, offbeat feats of skill, unholy humor, and slow, sinful striptease that drips with character and chaos. Every act is a dice roll into the unknown: will it be blood, boobs, or bardic debauchery? This isn’t your average quest. It’s loud. It’s lewd. It’s legendary.
