Langstroth’s Literary Bee
In May, stop by the GPL Local History Room as we celebrate Reverend Lorenzo Langstroth, Greenfield resident and the “Father of Modern Beekeeping”. Langstroth developed the moveable frame beehive, which made it possible to harvest honey and check on the bee's health without destroying the bee hive. When Langstroth wrote his classic book Hive and the Honey-Bee in 1853, he included inspiration from some of the English language’s great poets and playwrights. Langstroth generally quoted a select few lines of poetry or prose, but we have expanded those to show the full context of the material. Think of this as a literary garden, with a Langstroth bee flying among its lines and branches. The self-guided program will be on view in the Local History Room for the month of May.

The Overlap - a GCC student group exhibition, showing work by artists Acadia Black, Emilio DiDonna, Calla Hubert, Caroline James, Nayana LaFond, Tyler Milliken, Charis Mockel-Cole, Olivia Vassar, Morgan Willis, Rich Sergeiko-Marcotte. These students are apart of Greenfield Community College’s Visual Arts Seminar instructed by Chenda Cope The opening reception is free and open to the public! Lydia M Kinney’s Solo Exhibition showcases vibrant, structured and layered abstracted paintings. Lydia is a GCC Alum based in Greenfield. The opening reception is free and open to the public! Lilo & Stitch Sticker Day
Come Wednesday of opening week and get a free sticker for kids of Lilo & Stitch. Live-action remake of Disney's animated classic 'Lilo and Stitch'. A fugitive alien helps to mend a lonely Hawaiian girl's broken family. DIY Pride Gear (drop-in),
Need swag for the upcoming Pride season? Stop by Greenfield Public Library on Wednesday, May 28, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, to make shirts, bracelets, and buttons to wear and hand out at the parade.
