The Greenfield Public Library is pleased to welcome Horticulturist Erik Vegeto on Tuesday, January 13 at 6:00 pm, for his talk Winter Ecology & Horticulture: Setting the State for Spring. Erik will talk about:

  • How plants survive in winter
  • How to identify plants in winter
  • Dormant-season pruning
  • Plant cold protection
  • Pest management
  • Winter tool care

Learn what plants are doing beneath the snow and how you can care for your landscape during the winter months. 

Erik Vegeto is a horticulturist, educator, and owner of Earth Gardeners, an ecological gardening business based in Western Massachusetts. He holds a B.S. in Plant & Soil Science from UMass Amherst and has worked across the horticulture and cultivation industry in roles ranging from IPM Manager to Researcher to Cultivation Supervisor. Erik specializes in ecological restoration, native plant propagation, and insect–plant interactions, and he partners with organizations such as the Massachusetts Agricultural Extension Agency and the Hampden Hampshire Conservation District. His mission is to help communities restore local ecosystems through hands-on, practical knowledge.
