Soul Can You: Local Author Talk with Lisa Gilbert, MD,
About This Event
The Greenfield Public Library is pleased to present Local Author Lisa Gilbert in the Community Meeting Room on Wednesday, July 29 at 5:30 pm.
In Soul Can You, psychiatrist Dr. Lisa Gilbert offers a deeply personal—and profoundly mystical—exploration of trauma, healing, and spiritual awakening through expanded states of consciousness. Drawing from her own experiences with Holotropic Breathwork® and nonordinary states, she invites readers to answer the soul’s call to heal, awaken, and reconnect.
Soul Can You explores the soul’s journey from fragmentation to reconnection with the Higher Self—and reveals how true healing is not only recovery but also transcendence. Gilbert shows how nonordinary states can ignite creativity, catalyze shamanic experiences, and awaken a sacred responsibility to ourselves, each other, and the planet.
Dr. Gilbert began her career in education and eventually pursued medicine at Case Western Reserve University – School of Medicine. During her psychiatry residency at Cleveland Clinic, she developed a deep interest in working with trauma survivors. Her psychiatric practice began in community mental health and private practice where she furthered her focus on trauma-informed care, addressing a wide spectrum of experiences, including childhood abuse, sexual abuse, natural disasters, combat, accidents, and refugee trauma. In 2009, she joined the Veterans Affairs (VA) as a psychiatrist, establishing herself as an expert in treating PTSD. She retired from clinical practice in 2025, and currently lives in Western Massachusetts with her two magnificent cats.
This program, sponsored by the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library, is free and open to the public.
