LassieComeHome-Boschen

About This Event

On Monday March 2nd, the Greenfield Garden Cinemas and Jonathan Boschen will host their third Fabulous 40’s Film of 2026 with the Technicolor gem “Lassie Come Home”. The movie was produced and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, stars Roddy McDowell and Elizabeth Taylor, and is one of Jonathan Boschen’s favorite movies of the 1940s. Admission is $11 for adults, and $8:50 seniors and students, and FREE for kids 14 and under. The 1943 film “Lassie Come Home” was the first film adaption (and the best) of a 1940 novel written by Eric Knight, of the same name. The movie tells the story of a collie who, after being sold by her struggling family and separated from Joe Carraclough (a Yorkshire schoolboy played by Roddy McDowall) embarks on an epic journey across Britain to be united with Joe. Along with being a wonderful film for the entire family, the movie features a lavish music score, and also beautiful Technicolor Cinematography. Overall, the movie is an excellent film to introduce children and the entire family to classic cinema from the era! The movie was released on October 7, 1943 and was first shown in Greenfield on Sunday February 13, 1944 where it played at the Garden Theatre for four days.
