“La Table Francaise” Presents: Silent Presence: The French in New England

Silent Presence (1)

About This Event

Join Jeanne Douillard and “La Table Française”, GPL’s French Conversation Club, for a special presentation: Silent Presence: The French in New England, on Tuesday, May 26 at 5:30 pm, in the GPL Community Meeting Room.

Silent Presence, the French in New England is a unique look at the story of the French in the Americas. Jeanne intertwines factual history with her own personal narrative as she discusses the experience of the Franco-Americans. Her research reveals a profound connection: understanding our culture and ancestry significantly impacts how we live, who we are, and how we share our stories.
She addresses the legacy of shame, demonstrating that by embracing this history, pride can be reclaimed. As Native American storyteller Jennifer Lee says, “To know what happened can empower and inform you,” a sentiment Jeanne wholeheartedly echoes.

Light refreshments will be served.

“La Table Française is an intermediate conversation group, facilitated by Tamara Grogan, Greenfield resident and 25-year veteran French teacher.

This program is free and intended for ages 16+.
