15th Annual Greenfield Bee Fest – Saturday, May 17, 2025

Each spring, Greenfield Bee Fest celebrates Lorenzo Langstroth, the “Father of Modern Beekeeping,” with fun and learning for all ages as we highlight the vital role of the honeybee in sustaining our environment.

Friday, May 16 

2-5pm: Pioneer Valley Food Tours will offer “A Taste of Honey” downtown Greenfield tour. Reservations required: pioneervalleyfoodtours.com and click “Book online”

4-9pm: Four Phantoms Brewing Company, 301 Wells Street, will offer FREE samples of its Lion’s Skull Mead, “A bone-dry mead made with wildflower honey –  floral aromas with mild notes of passionfruit and ripe citrus,”  plus a 10% discount on cans of mead purchased from the taproom.


Saturday, May 17 9am-12:30pm

Activities for Children (must be accompanied by and adult)

  • KID Crafts – make hats, clay bee beads with Artspace, beehive painting and bee games

  • FREE bee bags for kids

  • Bee face-in-hole photo op

  • Bee Observation Hive, find the Queen Bee (Franklin County Beekeepers)

  • FREE plants (Pioneer Gardens in Deerfield)

Activities for the Whole Family 

  • Beehive painting – Decorate a side of a hive for use by local apiaries

  • Shop the BEE BAZAAR: Everything Bee-themed, for kids & adults. We’ve curated rare, practical & outrageous bee finds from the vendors across the United States. Great Gifts! And all donations support the Greenfield Bee Fest.

  • Bee Education by Franklin County Beekeepers Association (FCBA); all you ever wanted to know about bees and honey!

  • Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR): pollinator network info and more!

  • FOOD: Free popcorn, blueberries & Arizona honey tea

  • 9:30 and 11:15am Fiddle Dee Bees Western Mass Fiddle Orchestra

  • 10 am FCBA Garden Awards: Greenfield Savings, Hungry Ghost

  • 10:15 am Pollinator Garden bee repair + crosswalk

  • 10:20 am Twice As Smart student singers

  • 11 am Pollinators Parade through Farmers’ Market, led by Expandable Brass Band

  • 11:15 am Break open Bee Pinata

  • 11:30 am Langstroth’s 215th birthday cake!

  • 12 noon Unveil the MDAR bee sculpture with state officials and Mayor Desorgher

  • 12:20 pm Silent Auction winners announced


Following Bee Fest

1-9pm, Saturday, May 17: Plant Swap at Four Phantoms Brewing Company, 301 Wells Street. “Bring your seeds, seedlings, extra transplants, and propagation projects to our Plant Swap to trade or share with other plant enthusiasts. And then stay for a beer.”

Sunday, May 18: Four Phantoms Brewing Company will hold a post-Bee Fest spelling bee. “More fun than when you were in school ‘cause this time there’s beer!” Prizes awarded to top finishers. $5 per person to enter, with all entry fees going to support the Western Mass Bailout Project.
