About This Event
Join us at the GPL for our bi-monthly book discussion, as we explore different authors and genres, on Tuesday ,November 21, at 6:30 pm in the GPL Conference Room. This month we are exploring Sociology with Matthew Desmond’s book Poverty, by America.
In this landmark book, acclaimed sociologist Matthew Desmond draws on history, research, and original reporting to show how affluent Americans knowingly and unknowingly keep poor people poor.
Elegantly written and fiercely argued, this compassionate book gives us new ways of thinking about a morally urgent problem. It also helps us imagine solutions. Desmond builds a startlingly original and ambitious case for ending poverty.
Copies of the book are available at the library.
