Creature Creations with Wade Boswell

One ceramics workshop, spread out over 4 days!

All ages welcome, but artists under 15yo must attend with a caregiver who is also registered for the workshop

Let your imagination run wild as you sculpt creatures in this fabulous sculpting intensive. There is no right way (and no wrong way) to make a creature. Instead, create them completely from your imagination or based on images from different living animals, combined to make something monstrous! Without the pressure of getting it “right,” experiment with building solid, pinching, coiling, slab building and/or using armatures and other forms of support while building.

Friday, October 9th, 6:00-8:00pm- sculpt
Saturday, October 10th, 1:00-3:30pm – sculpt
Sunday, October 11th, 10:00am-12:30pm – sculpt
Saturday, October 17th, 1:00pm – 3:00pm – glazing

• We will create textures for skin, scales, fur, etc and learn techniques to sculpt basic monster anatomy such as eyes, nose, ears, mouths, teeth, claws, horns, etc. All levels of experience are welcome.

• Students will have the opportunity to display their finished works in Artspace’s gardens as part of a Crossroads Cultural District Streetscape Activation public art display this fall.

• Registration includes up to 5lbs clay (additional clay available for purchase at $1/lb), glaze, and firing.
