Join movie historian John Boshen as we explore one of the great pre-code talkies of the 30’s the romantic drama Jezebel featuring Bette Davis (All About Eve) in her breakout role across from a youthful and imposing Henry Fonda (12 Angry Men). In 2009 The Library of congress preserved the film in the National Film Registry. Nominated for 5 Academy awards it won for Best Actress Bette Davis and Best Supporting Actress Fay Bainter (State Fair).
In 1850s Louisiana, Julie Marsden, a spoiled Southern belle who risks losing her suitor with her impetuous behavior. Engaged to successful banker Preston Dillard, Julie pushes him away with her arrogant and contrary ways, leading to a scandalous scene at a major social event and his subsequent departure. When Preston eventually returns and Julie attempts to win him back, she discovers that it may be too late.
